help us to help you, and the lot of cyclists generally, by …
… always being aware of other route users (inc. vehicles)
approaching you – e.g from around the next bend and coming
up behind you, particularly on narrow country lanes. Behave
considerately, especially when cycling in a group and remember
that cycling fast downhill is great fun, but only when you can
clearly see ahead and are able to stop safely and quickly.
…not leaving your energy drink bottles, gel sachets and
other litter on the route (other than crushed in litter bins).
This quite rightly upsets local residents who complain and either
they or volunteer Rangers have to make time to pick up your
rubbish.
…not leaving farm gates open after you’ve nipped
behind a hedge or wall for a pee. Letting livestock on to the
route is dangerous and understandably annoys the farmer.
…not leaving your bikes blocking entrances, cluttering
pavements and generally in the way. Do make polite suggestions
about providing convenient cycle parking if you feel so inclined.
…keeping smiling and offering friendly greetings as you
go along – and telling local businesses as often as you
can that you’re cycling the W2W route.
Do contact
us to tell us about any encounters
you might have had with other route users and local people –
good or bad.
Thank you!
