Colette Anderson, Vicky Gilroy and Heather Lambert set out from Walney Island in May before the route
was fully signed. ‘It’s a fantastic route’ Heather said, and strongly recommends the ‘YHA in Kendal for
a very good overnight stop', ‘the tearoom in Orton for very good cakes’ and the ‘Fox & Hounds in
Cotherstone as an excellent place to stay and eat’. The ‘excellent conductor’ on the Sunderland to
Newcastle train service (every half hour) was also mentioned.
